Grant Awarded!!!

The Federal Home Loan Bank has awarded Oakhurst a "brick and mortar" grant of $135,000.  We are currently soliciting bids for the completion of the renovations of the residential facility.

Kitchen Renovations

Using Ed Roach's design, Florian Schleiff/Schleiff Construction, LLC  has begun renovations on the kitchen in the residential facility of Oakhurst Outreach's Transitional Living Center.

Taste of our Town

In October 2012 Oakhurst participated in Lewisburg's Taste of our Town (TOOT) street festival.  We sold water and soda to thirsty passersby, and displayed our floor plans and our brochure.

Permits Received; progress made

Over the past year Oakhurst has many significant accomplishments:
  • after receiving a pre-developmnet grant, Oakhurst worked with engineers to determine that there was a less than one percent chance of our property flooding;  thus the property was removed out of the flood plane with FEMA; this was needed in order to be eligible for certain grants
  • a new well was dug
  • our architectural plans have been approved by the fire marshal; therefore, we are "shovel ready"
  • our building permit is in place
  • a new gravel driveway is in place
We are excited that we are ready to build! As soon as funding is finalized, we can be up and running in 6 months!

Architectural Designs

Click on the images below to view the architectural plans designed by Ed Roach of Lewisburg.  We're excited by this new accessible design which put a door in each bedroom looking out on the woods and the creek in this glorious piece of God's country.

Barbara Nissman Concert

In July 2011 Barbara Nissman, world renown concert pianist, performed a benefit  concert for Oakhurst.  We were thrilled for this opportunity to hear Ms. Nissman perform, and thrilled that she supports the mission of the Oakhurst Transitional Living Center!

New Roof Installed

During the Fall of 2010 A new metal "cool" roof was installed on the fellowship hall in preparation of it's being remodeled into our residence.

Mission Team Helps Oakhurst

During Summer 2010 a Work Camp Group from Fort Hill Presbyterian Church of Clemson, SC in conjunction with the Ronceverte Presbyterian Church spent a week cleaning the property and painting the chapel. From a letter sent to the Work Camp Group:The members of the Oakhurst Board of Directors are grateful for your support as we proceed in our endeavors to make the Oakhurst Outreach Transitional Living Center a reality.   We are thrilled with the work that you did in beautifying our buildings and our grounds.  It is gratifying to go into the clean and newly painted chapel, to see the clean floor and packed boxes in the fellowship hall, and to know that we are a few steps closer to being ready to renovate the hall to become a residence for women in recovery from drug/alcohol addiction.  We have been blessed by frequent rain since you were here and the flowers and trees are flourishing.
